perhaps the most frustrating thing about selling items is the lack of info people offer. I can't tell you how many time I've had to PM people back and forth to get basoc info about location, email address, shipping addres, etc. In this case, it would have been best for Jay Gatsby to be as forthcoming in his initial PM about hos location and the amount of time he would need to make the payment. However, I agree with him that westinghouse should not have turned into an E-thug by sending that last PM...........although everyone is a tough guy when it comes to teh interwebs!

you snooze you lose, simple as that. buyer is acting like a child. posting a bad review of the buyer on feedback thread because he didn't get his candy is typical special flower behavior.

Here is the exchange where you think it is questionable that there was an offer to buy:

Hello there, my PayPal address is

westinghouse@optonline.net

-thank you and enjoy!

I don't know what country you are from, but in the United States, this is a clear offer and acceptance. You're saying even if he implied he would buy it as though it isn't completely clear he wanted to buy it. He said he would like it and asked how to pay for it. Pretty clear that he wasn't just sending an email to say that in the hypothetical case that he owned said steamer, that he would be pleased with it. The seller then provided an address to send payment, which signified that he accepted the offer.

Like I said, reasonable minds can disagree as to whether or not he should have waited more than 12 hours. I don't think it is reasonable to argue that Jay didn't make an offer.

Jay said 4 things in his pm
1. He likes the steamer
2. He has an APO address.
3. He tells the seller to pack the item well because it's going to somewhere far.
4. He asks for the "PP" info.

never once did he mentioned about buying the item or have the item sent specifically to him.
In the United States, "PP" automatically means Paypal?
How is this a "clear" offer in any way? For all i know, the seller could possibly misunderstood the buyer, and provided his paypal address when the buyer actually wanted some other information.
I respect the sellers who are willing to hold an item for a extended amount of time, but i do not see anything wrong with the seller selling the item to the first buyer that paid.

You are joking... right? B&S is not an online store with lawyers and legal nuance that can be manipulated to put someone in the right. It is an ad-hoc marketplace where honor and etiquette keep things going.
