that was awesome, but what was he saying at the end when he stuck the bottle in the shoe? Is there something special about the way the seam of the bottle is relative to the shoe?

I guess that answers my question, you just slam the bottle against a wall in a shoe

I did this at a huge party at a huge first floor 8 person apartment in hells kitchen last winter. no one could find the corkscrew. I instantly became the most awesome person anyone at the party had ever seen. It was incredibly easy too. Only time I've done it.

Wouldn't it scuff up your drywall pretty bad?

there's a great book about the tuna fleets of western sicily that construct what is basically an underwater funneling system made of netting into which the great fish swim. the sytem ends in 'the chamber of death', which is surrounded by the boats filled w/ fisherman w/ harpoons who basically haul the fish out of the water like so: Attachment 47292

the book is called mattanza, and was written by an american woman named theresa maggio(?). she ends up getting seduced by one of these fisherman who has no corkscrew for the corvo. he opens the wine by holding a folded towel against the base of the bottle and thuddingit against the wall, much like the video. his resourcefulness seems to be what seals the deal

Done this, same reaction.

Alden shell cordovan tassel loafer.

Tried it another time (smaller gathering), and it didn't work

When you pull the cork out with your teeth at the end, be careful not to pour wine down the front of your shirt.
