Source for Inexspensive Whey Isolate

I'm testing a gluten-free diet and wanted to source a whey protein that didn't have all the b.s. in it, including of course gluten based products. I also wanted something without synthetic sweeteners or even sugar if possible. I came up with this product from NOW Foods:

http://www.nowfoods.com/Products/Pro...ly/M092309.htm

Purchased here:

http://www.allstarhealth.com

It seems to fit the bill nicely. It's also priced right at $70 for a ten pound bag. The majority of reviews I found were very positive. 'Thought I'd share the info since the question of protein mixes comes up a lot here.

$70 for 10 lb? you can get 10 lb of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey (Protein Isolates) for $79.99 from Bodybuilding.com it has 1 gram of sugar per scoop... and it tastes great.

That's actually a pretty good price for whey isolate. True Protein has gluten and sweetener free whey concentrate for $5.69 per lb. You could also go with the Gemma Pea Isolate protein for something entirely vegetarian with a really high amino acid profile for $5.09 per lb.

I can vouch for the taste. The chocolate in particular tastes like NesQuik.

How guaranteed is it to be clean of WADA prohibited substances though? I can get clean protein recovery drinks - 7.5 lb for the same price - albeit that its not pure protein - about 2.4 lb of actual protein...

I don't think too many people reading this forum are going to be worried about WADA. And if you are an Olympic athlete, surely you shouldn't be getting your nutrition advice from a clothing website.

Update:

Okay, got the jumbo bag of whey and note the following:

You really don't need the sweeteners in your mix. Product tastes fine without, and of course stuff can be added in the blender for flavor.

Pure isolate mixes very easily, no clumping. Easy cleanup.

Unless you're sharing with others, no way should an individual buy the ten pound bag like I did. It's way too much to get through since you might be using a third to a cup's worth of the product per day. The stuff will go stale before you use it all. The five pounder is a better purchase.

NOW Foods will be selling an even healthier, non-GMO (genetically modified organisms) whey isolate in the near future.

Protein can be (supposedly) stored for up to two years as long as it's stored in a cool, dry, dark place. I once bought 10lbs. and it never went stale on me.

muscle gauge nutrition whey.

Incredibly good tasting too.

Good luck chewing 200g or protein a day. Better yet, good luck affording it.

This costs $10 less than the Now protein (which I use), however:

Cholesterol:

BuyBulkWhey.Com: 66mg
Now: 4mg

All else is about equal, but that right there is worth the $10 difference. If you use 3 scoops a day of the BuyBulkWhey you are at 66% of your DV in cholesterol alone.

BlueBonnet makes the best powder on the market but you'll pay dearly for it. I determined Now is 2nd best when I did my research a couple months ago.
