Kiton fabric for a repair?

Hi all

Managed to pick up a Kiton Navy Suit from someone (NWT) but it was damaged. There were two tiny slits in the fabric at the back of the collar, bang in the middle so it was easily noticeable.

I just picked it up from the invisible menders and to my eyes it actually looks worse than before. I think this has something to do with the fact that it was 14 micron.

I think the suit may be from a couple of seasons ago. It's nearly plain navy but with a microscopic stripe (not white but in the fabric if you see what I mean...)

Luckily the model tag was still present. What do you think my chances of getting the fabric would be? I've just fired off a mail to Kiton but failing that - does anyone have any bright ideas?

Thanks in advance as usual

Stephen.

I would be interested to know if you get a response from Kiton.

Wait, I'm confused. What are you intending to do with extra cloth? Isn't the damage on the back of the lapel, anyway?

Sorry I've edited my post - I meant to say collar - it's the back of the suit.

How was the repair performed? Did they take a piece from the bottom of an unhemmed pant leg or from the inside of the jacket? That's the usual go-to for getting a piece to use for a re-weave. I'd love to hear that you score some from Kiton, but that seems like a long-shot.

I'm not too sure to be honest. It's what was hinted at when I dropped them in. It's supposed to be one of the best places in London to have it done and it wasn't cheap. I might try and get photos of the repair this weekend.

Being 14 micron and Super 180s I suppose it's quite hard to get a good repair done. It's not too bad in some lights but I was definitely disappointed with the outcome.

let's look at some pictures of the actual repair.

what did the repair shop said when they first examined the suit and damage? Did they promise the sky?

Even assuming you could get a matching piece of fabric from Kiton, are you then going to have the entire collar redone/re-made? Who are you going to have do that? Would you even trust the tailoring skills of the person to match the original?

Ah, gotcha. Have you tried contacting a Kiton boutique?

Well they said it would look better than it did. It depends on what you view as better. I suppose it's the best that could have been done. I'm not saying I had the wool pulled over my eyes or anything - just that I was disappointed with the result.

I was going to see if the much recommended Mr. Thomas in Soho could replace the panel. I knew it was a bit of a punt. Worse ways I've got a *fairly* expensive pair of Kiton trousers....

Tried contacting Kiton directly. I may give that a try if I don't hear anything back...

A boutique might be easier to work through as they're used to dealing with individual customers.

It looks like they didn't replicate the herringbone weave at all.
