Got to the fair and walked around to find some food and beer. Ended up getting a brat and realized how so many people get so fat in America. Not much decently healthy food to be found but if you're into deep fried butter sticks and chocolate covered bacon, there was plenty to be had. As for the concert, I thought it was great, but of course I'm a fan of hers. A friend who doesn't listen to country and hadn't heard of her before really enjoyed it as well. She played a lot of songs from her upcoming album as well. She does still have things to work on from a performing standpoint and isn't quite there yet. Basically, it appears she's still finding herself in the music scene. Of course her dancing was spectacular.

My camera sucks so I gave up on trying to get any good pics but here are some I found on the net from the show.

My friend posted a pic from the fair the other day.... disgusting all the food choice there.

Magnolia Bakery opened on 3rd St near the Bev Ctr (and right next to the great Le Labo perfumerie). Haven't tried the goods, but there was a line of folks waiting for takeout on Sunday night at 8 (unheard of in LA).

Guys... I just got a job offer to work in downtown LA- I live in down town long beach.

My lady and I got up this morning and did a test run of the blue line -- door to door its about a 75 minute commute each way. My current gig is 20 minutes each way, no traffic. However the pay SUCKS.

How much more would it take you to make that commute? 5-10-15k, more? The good news is that I can sleep, read, chilll out, whatever. The bad news is its the most ghetto of all the trains and Id be spening like 10 hours a week on it.

is there potential to move up in the new job? if so, i'd probably take it.

That commute is way too long... I work in Downtown L.A. live about 10 miles away, though.

Yes, Id say so. I may eventually move closer to work if need be, but I love LB man.

So how long does it take you? Where exactly you at?

You think at most 90 minutes each way door to door - by train and foot - is too much? I think the train ride and brisk walk in the morning could be relaxing. If they do flex schedules, im in for sure.

I can probably drive in one hour but why drive when I can have someone else for just a little longer?

Sunday night will fill you with dread knowing you have to make the commute the next morning and for the following 5 days. That's 3 hrs a day of commuting. Not the greatest neighborhoods on the route from LB to LA and back.

Every sunday is like that. Does anyone take the metro regularly? Do you actually ahve a chance to relax, do other work, etc. or is that just a romantic, optimistic view. The blue line runs through the hood, but Im literally going from one end point to the other - 17 stops.

Also, where is a good place to live for a young single guy that would work in downtown? I can put up with the commute for 3 months til my rent is up. How is the commute from the westside?

I was afraid to spot a snake. Beautiful disappointment indeed.

Any recommendations for good bars/lounges/whatever in weho? A friend and I are set on Cantina so far, but I'm at a loss as to where else we should go/check out/whatever. I haven't really been to weho for the nightlife before
