Geocaching

Any geocachers here? My wife and I just started a few weeks ago and it is really addictive.

On Sunday we hiked around the beautiful Muttontown Preserve in LI. There is a great multicache that leads you around the forest to all the different remaining ruins of King Zog's estate. Each cache has a little bit of Knollwood Estate and King Zog's history. Unfortunately, we could not find the fifth and final cache but I have no doubt that we will head back soon.

My estranged aunt who I think murdered someone in the woods of Wisconsin does this. She is retired.

I've done it a couple times with friends. It's surprisingly fun.

+1 I'm actually a member of a geocaching website, but I've never gotten around to giving it a try.

It sounds fun .. great incentive to go out for a hike. I think using GPS is a bit lame though. Maybe it's my inner pirate speaking, but "treasure maps" would be more exciting.

Wouldn't a compass and a map be more sporting?

Does anyone remember Masquerade?

Masquerade is a children's book, written and illustrated by Kit Williams, which sparked a treasure hunt by concealing clues to the location of a jewelled golden hare, created and hidden somewhere in Britain by Williams.

Jesus, that has got to be one of the strangest sentences ever put together.

Yeah I've got friends that do orienteering, geocaching and letterboxing. Went out a couple times with them and had a good time. Definitely appeals to the inner-treasure-hunting-Goonie in you.
