Bloating and visual look/feel of bloating

I'm pretty much active as the next guy and was a gym rat in my earlier years so I know what Im talking about when i speak about this phenomenon.
Anyone have issues (not really an issue though) with bloating or I dont know what it is called because im not sure really if it is bloating...

I experience this now and all my life, and even back when i was thinner, more muscular.

There are times when just one day you wake up and your musculature or toneness of muscle (whatever i had at that time) just sort of gets a blur. takes a back seat. the whatever vascularity you had kind of just disappears a bit.
you look in the mirror and you dont really see the fine lines of the back shape, contours of the chest, and side rib and arm angles and armpit depthness with the lines from the lattissimus and so forth . hip and waist shapeliness kind of dissolves away a little.

just enough for you to notice. however, no one does really though.

it stays for a day or perhaps two days. during that time, i get a bit less motivated to work out or lift weights. so i rest during those days. perhaps eat a bit more.

then bam, after a couple of days of that, your vascularity is back but even more so (not sure if it is psychological , but it seems to come back more) and the shapeliness and contours just come back . the muscle and rigidity of the feel of the muscle is back. and you look good to go again.

dont know what the changes are. i dont drink necessarily more water during or before the bloating. dont eat anything necessarily with more salt or anything different. so i dont know what causes it.

also, that bloating when i was younger would sometimes fall on a weekend, and it would be bad timing, as that was when i wanted to go out, dress up a bit, go to the club or something, but my face would be a bit rounder. arcgh!

It could have something to do w/ your diet... I'm doing a variation of a CKD (cyclical keto) and during some of my earlier carb-ups and refeeds I'd get the occasional bloat.

edit: should really read the posts more carefully, you DID mention no change in diet... no idea man.

This is a perfectly natural reaction to your pregnancy, Shonuff. Your body is making room for the baby. Over the next nine months, it will need somewhere to grow!

shonuff are you by any chance oriental?

That's strange that this effect only happens for a day or two and then goes away, Sho.

I'm experiencing something similar now but is it weeks prolonged. I'm a gym rat and lately am in a state where anytime I eat something, my stomach gets really bloated. Then I started feeling like I was going to throw up just walking around at work. Started taking Prilosec OTC and after a few days the feeling of wanting to vomit went away, still dealing with the bloating tho.

As for the pregnant theories, guess I can discount that one (lol) as I went to the doc the other day and he said it's due to the fact that I've been stressed like a mofo lately. It's an odd reaction since I've been stressed badly at various times in the past and never had a psychosomatic type reaction like this.

and yeah, it definitely is frustrating when I feel like I look terrible and am used to looking pretty decent, especially with all the pool party and beach nonsense going on for the summer.

I get this too. I think it has to do with sodium intake and water retention. Ironically, when i was cycling creatine, it happened much less frequently. I think because water would then be sucekd into my muscles when I got sufficiently hydrated (instead of having to wait until I pissed it out). Total broscience of course, but FWIW.

Anecdotally, higher carbohydrate intake can cause bloating.

im korean

ive noticed that orientals, even when muscular, tend to get that swoll look such as this:

the muscle mass is there but its bulky, i can see how some days it would appear bloated

i know what you mean. however i see that 'undefined' bulky look on korean younguns when they are kind of newbie to working out or still in their early 20s.

older guys 30s and people who have been working out alot, may have a belly or not, but their extremities are more sinewy and defined . such as i am.

korean guys can definitely bloat in the face alot. especially after eating some ramen/carbohydrates, rice/ alcohol.

it just happened again yesterday im doing well in my eating habits (except for sat and sun, had a little extra, but not overindulging or anything)

i was fine throughout this week, and then last night i felt a little soft, today im full on bloated. armpits hollowness disappeared somewhat, there's a ring of 'fat' around my waist more than usual, face is full, pecs softer than usual, overall defineness gone. sh*t.

gonna just keep doing my thing eating right and exercising. hopefully itll go away by friday

Bloating is different than water retention. Different things can cause water retention and also cause you to lose the water retention. Look up 'the whoosh effect'

thanks looked it up. i found a few articles like this one that sort of explains my predicament/phenomenon in laymen's terms

http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat...uishy-fat.html

basically triglycerides leave the fat cell but gets substituted with some water to make it more bloated (temporarily). and then when released, the body looks overall leaner almost overnight.

It's because their limb proportions compound the effect. You can always size up which asians will be bloated gym rats even if they put in 100%.
