How much time do you spend cooking each day?

Inspired by the "cooking culture" thread.

For me it's usually half an hour in the morning (breakfast and lunch) and an hour or so in the evening.

Maybe an extra hour or two in the summer if I'm making preserves, pickles or ice cream.

(Poll seems to have disappeared into the ether. Oh well.)

Not too much since I got married. I still do sauces and gravies and do the macaronage when we're making macarons.

I cook everyday. I would cook a lot more, but due to my economic handicap I could only cook so much.

I'm still living at home .. but I'm up to about 6-7 hours a week, usually cook breakfast (eggs/bacon/hashbrowns) once or twice a week, supper 2-3 times, and lunch 2-3 times. Up until about 3 months ago it was 6-7 hours a year, so it's a pretty drastic change.

i'm about the same as parker. 30-45 minutes in the morning making breakfast. usually make a dinner, which takes 30-60. every other weekend or so we'll have folks over and taht can be 3-4 hours. then there's days like today when it's work-related and i'll spend 4-5 hours (the other 3 hours of the work day going to SF).

About 2.5 hours....each meal throughout the day takes longer time to prepare

Not very much My mom lives 30 minutes away and I have an empty fridge since moving apartments. When I'm being good, I'll cook maybe 6 hours a week. I tend to make meals that last me 2-3 days.

Not that long at the minute because it's the summer and I'll usually just have a salad with a bit of chicken or steak. In the winter I'll often spend a couple of hours in the evening making a stew or lasagne or something and roast dinners on the Sunday.

Does having a roast in the oven or having a pot of stock simmering on the stove count as cooking time even if I'm doing other stuff?

It probably takes me 10 minutes each morning to make coffee, a hot breakfast, and prep my lunch for the day.

Then, I spend maybe 15 minutes prepping dinner. It usually cooks much longer than that, but it doesn't require my attention that whole time.

Wow. I'm impressed with all this. Almost everything I eat has to fit neatly between two slices of whole wheat bread. I am the sandwich king. Not fancy. No mayo, no lettuce. Speed is the key here. Tho once a month I put something in the slo cooker to later ladle out and freeze in portions: chili, stew and did i say chili?

This is depressing... is it just dry meat and cheese on sliced bread?

My wife is currently pregnant, which means I do the cooking and she does the cleanup! It is the perfect arrangment. I cook breakfast. Eggs. 10 minutes Lunch: I eat out. Dinner: I cook again. anywhere from 25 minutes to an hour and a half. She cleans!!!!!1!
