I love these haughty, customer is stupid but I feel just fine taking their money posts. I'm with DarkNWorn, you should print that out and put it on the wall so your customers can see just what you think of them. It reminds me of the arrogant tech support monkeys who are always complaining/laughing at the people who call them because they are less than savvy when it comes to computers, not realizing if the callers they hate so much actually knew anything, they'd have to go and find a real job because they wouldn't be needed at the call center.

I hope you don’t see this as rude, but I had a look at the wine list on your restaurants website, and could not help but find it strange to see a restaurant, which prides itself on wine, but has none of the following:
Pouilly Fuisse
Puligny Montrachet
Chassagne Montrachet
Chablis 1er Cru
Petit Chablis
Romanee-Conti
Vosne-Romanee
Corton
Gevrey Chambertin
Le Pin
Petrus
Margaux
Latour
Haut Brion
Lafite Rothschild
Mouton Rothschild
d'Yquem
Ausone

I can't be number 11 because I'm not a customer of yours. I was just saying, in short, that this supercilious attitude is really trite, and believe me, those stupid customers pick up on it. Good luck staying in business longer than 2 years.

Bouji, I had some Italian wine Friday that cost $255 a bottle. It started with an A, perhaps would know what it is? I'm generally not a wine person, but this was good even to my pleb tastes.

I'm not good with Italian wine... although, I'm guessing Angelo Gaja? Was it red or white?
I am mostly into French wine.

Or maybe Amarone dal Forno, but that tends to be more than $255

I like and admire most of the wines you mention below. However, in my homestate of Delaware, I must purchase wines from a distributor. The distributors who sell these products, IMHO, do not properly ship, store and transport them. I refuse to purchase wines that were shipped in unrefrigerated containers from overseas, sent to an unrefrigerated warehouse, and delivered in an unrefrigerated truck.

As soon as I can purchase these when I am comfortable they were properly stored, I will purchase them and offer them to my customers, assuming they are good values. With the weak dollar, IMHO, many French and other Eurpoean wines are not very good values these days.

Understandable; but aside from wines like Le Pin and Petrus I do find it odd that you offer Meursault and not Chablis or Pouilly Fuisse, which IMO offer better value. For me Meursult has always been overpriced for what it is - I'd preffer a Chablis 1er or Montrachet, which can be had for similar money.
Another issue that arose in my mind - In a semi-urban place like Delaware is there a market for such wines as Romanee-Conti and Latour? Whilst in London there certainly is, outside major urban areas I don't really see it.
Having a restaurant has always been my dream... Unfortunatly, I'm making too much money as a banker...

Again - it goes back to what's available. The supplier I purchase the Meursault from does not offer Chablis or Pouilly Fuisse that I felt was a good price to value.

To answer your second question, there is always a demand for quality wine. DE is located mid-point between NYC and DC and there is a substantial amount of business travellers from each city in town doing business with the Fortune 500 companies located and incorporated here.

I want to make as much wine available to people but want to make our place as non-pretentious as possible. It is my opinion that a wine list focusing on the best values is more desirable and approachable than a wine list focusing on the most expensive and popular labels.

The thing is I'd try a new Nuits or Beaune, but I never remember the name of it and nine times out of ten, I'll revert to a mid priced vintage of Gevrey Chambertin
