Thinking about these bad boys by John Lobb, but my only question is is this color of leather (claret) old-manish? I own many pairs of brown and a few blacks, but nothing in the red spectrum:

Sounds like it's about time you got something with a bit of red if you ask me.

I say go for it.

Raincoats are as the very name implies rather limited in use, of course depending a lot on the number of snow/rainy days where you live. I would consider more versatile outerwear first (overcoat).

I've been lurking for some time, but the time has come for me to post.  I'm looking for a nice, basic captoe in a burgundy/merlot shade and have come across three possible choices.  General information about personal style and personality; I'm currently a student and freelance makeup artist, I prefer a slimmer fit though I try not to fall into the trap of excessively trendy styles.

First off, Bruno Magli,

Second, Royal Tweed by Cheaney,

Third, Yanko,

Feedback or personal experience is appreciated.  Cheers.

Agreed, they are almost as narrow as the pocket stitch!

I need a basic brown shoe. Do these have too much red in them? I suppose I could always use brown polish.

Those are Santoni by the way.

I like don't love them them, although the color works. There's something somewhat bulbous about the cut.

That's what was bothering me. I think I'll go with these Meermins.
