At the same time I think some disclosure should be made when items are always NWOT yet the sizings are all over the board. Either your a large or a small but you cannot be both. This is just as annoying IMO and should be restrained by the mutiple posters who use this tactic.

ok I dont believe I have ever bought anything from you first of all (but I might be wrong). DEF was not joking about the other stuff!

Talking to you through PM would get no where with you, because all you would do is tell me that you are following the rules. The reason I put it out there was because I felt it was an issue but if no one else feels that way then I would shut up. But obviously there are ppl out there who feels the same way.

As for you giving away ties and proxys and such, I would easily give away crap ties if it could mean that my threads would be at the top of the list everyday (like yours). I have not been following your prices that well but if you are saying price drops everyday on $7 ties then I wondering how much you are droping. . . . .

I admit I have not always followed the rules but I feel like I am getting better and if this is not an issue that the whole forum cares about then I will def. drop it!

I am truly sorry I upset you.

edit- FWIW I checked and I only did 3 price drop bumps in the last 3 days.

why not just charge everyone to sell? Problem solved.

That would work for guys selling $300+ shoes, but the guys who are in it for a hobby would suffer. I consider this board to be more of a community than a business forum. I guess I should start looking at it more like ebay.

edit- The people who are into trading would also suffer.

I usually ask more than $MSRP and then raise my price if people ask for pictures, measurements etc when i sell shoes......

Regards.

Excuse me if this has been asked in the preceeding pages, but if my thread gets bumped by someone for whatever reason- misplaced enthusiasm or a sneaky desire to "do me in"- who get permanently banned bumper or bumpee???
^^ no one as per my understanding of the rules

FWIW, I just posted my first item for sale today. I've bought perhaps a half-dozen things in the time I've spent here (I say this to demonstrate that I'm an asset, not a liability--I don't want to get banned again, it's a pain in the ass). I spend more time on this site than I care to admit, and, I've learned to ignore the folks who play scramble-to-the-top. I suspect I'm not the only one who bypasses those threads. I've found my best scores on the eighth page or beyond (then again, I could care less about Thom Browne or Tom Ford).

Those who say this is a community are deluding themselves. For the most part, it seems to me, it's flat-out greed, often coupled with mistrust and insecurity. Otherwise, people wouldn't behave the way they do. Whatever it is, it's, at once, an object lesson in the dark and light side of the Internet. Guys like The Plunger and TweedyDon, it's been a pleasure. A lot of the rest of you seem obsessed and bizarre.

Just my opinion. Please don't ban me.

Quoted for truth.

So the banning comes if one bumps his own thread by offering less than a 5% drop in price, answers a question through quickreply rather than pm or offers drops on inexpensive items in a thread containing mostly expensive stuff? I think we'll all be happy to live with that. Is there no longer room for the "pithy comment bump" like -"wow, I used to have some EG's like that and I picked up Liz Hurley and Hugh Grant while wearing them" ? I kind of enjoy those types of bumps , but I do see how they shade into the organized league bumps- like where the same guys seem to do mutual bumping along the lines , "If only they were 9.67 z width , I'd snap 'em up." And by the way, as one who has been sent to "der (das oder zum?) Kooler" once already- hey it's cold and lonely out there, my baseball's all used up from banging against the wall and I can't take the sound of the simpering from the next cell. And if I've forgotten to say it in the past, you fellows- La Guy and all have given us a wonderful forum- thankyou, thankyou.

Mistrust? Where else would someone make a $600 personal payment to a person with 30 posts? If that is not trust in the community, then I do not know what is.

I wonder how it feels like to get banned?

Excellent thread, would read again.

I actually think this is a great strategy - especially for those who say "we've never been warned". Why not do the same thing here or in a warnings thread? By that I mean - when you warn someone, post it in the warnings thread. Once a poster has 3 (or however many) in that thread, then it's a ban. That way everyone's clear, the posters can't cry foul, and everyone sees the mechanics in action.

It might sound like more work for mods, but if they just changed PM'ing to "thread locked - see warn/ban thread" posts, it wouldn't be any more than current, plus the (ahem) whip visibility would help.

^^

I don't see why people need even more warnings than they have already received to get the hint.
