PSA: Catania, Sicily

I'm in Sicily right now and I recently tried searching the forum for any worthwhile shopping destinations, but I found almost nothing, and the little I found told me there wasn't anything worth visiting. Today, though, my friend took me to a place in Catania called "Stockhouse", basically a huge outlet type of store. I walk in and there's rows and rows of Jil Sander, Yves Saint Laurent, Margiela, Dolce & Gabbana, Cuccinelli, Alessandrini, Borrelli, Pacciotti, Gucci, Armani, CdG, Dior Homme, LV, Paul Smith, DSquared, Burberry, Moncler, WWM, and tons and tons of more brands I can't remember, both SW&D and MC style stuff. Had bathing suits, gym wear, sneakers, shoes, suits, shirts, pants, jeans, really everything. Everything in the store is 75% off, and more which you can haggle with them. Jil Sander jackets going for 80 euros, Borrelli shirts for 35, Versace, Zegna, and Cuccinelli stuits for 90 euros, and other insane deals. I know this isn't a common destination for most of you but if you are in the area this summer, go in and look. I couldn't believe it.

I ended up buying all of this for 170 euros today (75% discount + another 50 euros off):
Baracuta G4 Jacket: 380 euros -> 74 euros
Borrelli Shirt: 184 euros -> 35 euros
Dolce & Gabbana shirt: 155 euros -> 30 euros
Maw Polo: 60 euros -> 12 euros
WWM t-shirt: 60 euros -> 12 euros
Colors of California Flip flops: 30 euros -> 7 euros

LV? They don't discount or anything so that makes it sound sketchy

Aaa maybe LV wasn't there then. I just saw so many brands (and really nice ones) that some I don't remember or may or may not have been there. Place is legit tho

The place still sounds a bit sketchy. Did you look very closely at the quality of the clothing?

Haha, you guys trust me, 100% authentic. They were having their summer sale, everything was "50% off of 50%off" (so 75% total). Website: http://www.dymmy.it/stockhousestory/Pagina%201/ You can click on shit at the left and it'll give you some pics and some brands they stock. There was absolutely nothing "sketchy" about this place. EDIT: another guy in the MC thread I posted has been there before, he can only vouch good shit for this place. It feels weird having to defend the "authenticity" of this place because it really could not have been more legit.

These places definitely exist. We get Costco, Italians get this. Not fair, but that's life. In the pre-Euro days, when the US dollar was trading very favorably, we'd go to Italy and get designer goods in Italy for the same price as Banana Republic (at retail!) and then go to the outlets and to sample sales, where the dollar essentially allowed allowed us to get out of season stuff at Walmart prices. These days, it's become favorable to buy in Europe again, but I doubt that we'll see those salad days again any time soon.

Thank you so much for this post, I'm going on Friday. I'm in the U.S. Military and stationed about 15 minutes away from Catania. Misterbianco(the smaller city it's actually in) is a pretty awesome little town.
