Madras only for summer?

Hey guys...longtime lurker, first time poster...

Anyways-question....Is madras only wearable in summer? Or can it transition to fall or winter under sweaters or cardigans? I've been recently upping my wardrobe IQ and picked up a few great madras LS shirts, but don't want to commit the sin of madras out of season...

Thanks!

I've never heard of the sin of madras out of season. Is that a cardinal sin?

haha carnal sin...

So in the dead of winter I won't be the brightly colored shirt idiot?

It's a very lightweight fabric, whether in colorful plaids or neutral solids.

If you believe in wearing different-weight fabrics in different seasons, it's out.

I'm not sure if your bright yellow, turquoise and lime green madras would look that good in winter, but there are plenty of red/navy/darker coloured madras shirts that could be multi-seasonal.

Don't do it. You nipples will show when it dips below 65. Very embarassing.

Unless you like frozen nipples, go for it.

+1 If you live where it gets cold and have a wardrobe of fall and winter clothes, no way you'll choose the madras, which you might be bored with, having worn it the last few months

Officially requesting a ready-to-fuck Eason fit with a madras shirt in the dead for winter to verify this nipple festival claim.

Do you wear heavy flannel in summer? Just wear what's appropriate for the season and the temps. Madras is good for summer because it's light and usually brighter colors just seem more appropriate in warmer weather.

It's pretty simple, really.

In San Francisco, all the time! July tends to be FREEZING! Right now fog thick as Beyonce's thighs is coming in through the Gate. Forget flannel, get a parka.
Seriously though, leave the madras for spring/summer.
