I just saw Conan the Barber, and I always loved this scene, it cracks me up everytime:
Khitan General: We have won again. That is good! But what is best in life?
Khitan Warrior: The open steppe, fleet horse, falcon on your wrist, wind in your hair!
Khitan General: Wrong! Conan, what is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!
Khitan General: That is good. All the men go "yeaaaaaaaa!!!!!" and cheer


If you had to say what is Best in life? What would it be?

The feeling after a good athletic competition well represented - for me, a road race, a match, or having finished a grueling multiweek trek - after the shower, after having changed into streetclothes. I put my feet up, sip on my gin and tonic (or Irish coffee, depending on the season), watch the world go by. Slight frisson through my body. Nothing better.

A bar that is grooving just right.
That moment you realize you will be with her tonight.
Smoking cigars and fishing with your best friends.
The laughter of small children.
Looking real good.
Epiphanies.

lying beside your baby daughter as she sleeps- but not before she tells you she enjoyed her day with you and kisses you. then dress up, go to your favorite haunt, see your friends and order a good single malt.

Clean overhead surf and a well-tuned custom board. Having one of those sessions where you're completely in sync and getting wave after wave seems effortless. You've got a hot girl waiting for you on the beach (or better yet, surfing with you) and you're being filmed.

That and inheriting money are the best things in life.

When ths fish takes the bite and just pull it down.
WHen I earn a lot of money.
When I sit on the balcony listening to really good music and eating something real good.
WHen you buy something you are really satisfied with.
