Who to give business to? (Alden Indy)

There are many places that sell the Alden Indy boot... who should get my business? I know epaulet, blackbird, Alden-of-Carmel, Leather Soul, etc. etc. If the price is the same everywhere, where should I send my money?

Send the money to me, I'll decide for you.

Whoever has the best returns policy just in case it doesn't fit or you want to send it back for any reason.

Good point. Any ideas about who that is?

Normally I would say Zappos or Endless, but they don't carry Alden. Just read the policies on each of the sites you're looking at and decide for yourself.

Things to look at are:

14, 30, 60, or 365 day return period?

Full refund, exchanges, restocking fee, or just store credit?

Free return shipping or not? (not necessary, but nice)

If you're not sure about a specific site, just search them on here to see if people have had problems with them, or do a google search for reseller reviews.

I bought mine from Epaulet - great service and really fast shipping.

Are you just getting 405s, or something special? I'd say support one of the forum affs or give it to leathersoul in support of their continued tradition of making bad ass indy models. I kinda regret selling my vintage indys.

i second epaulet, fantastic service, plus you are supporting a forum affiliate (and a small shop) with your dollars.

Another vote for epaulet.

Leffot treated me very well.

Most of the places you mention will treat you right. Epaulet is awesome, but so is Leather Soul, Leffot, Shoemart and others.

Seriously, though, for the Indy in stock-ish form, I'd buy J.Crew. The small details they incorporated make it a better version, imo.

That being said, it is too bad Alden has stopped making it in the ~$350 range with the cotton duck lining. My cigar Indys fit so well I was considering getting the regular version to actually work in; a leather lining makes this a preposterous thought (so damned hot).
