True, I am aware of collagen. However, I am under the impression that chronic dryness does little to improve your skins appearance and will cause it to look more aged, even if it is not carving deep furrows into your face. I used to take Retin-A back when I had acne, kicking around the idea of going back on it as it stimulates collagen production.

Oddly enough, I weigh more currently than I have at any point in my life. I am still very, very thin(6'1" 160 lbs).

Wrinkles can be from fat loss and also bone loss. However, yours probably are from loss of skin elasticity, involving sun damage.

Back to the questions.... Theraplex makes a cream that might be too hydrating and perhaps is best used only at night, if you don't mind what it does to linens. There probably is nothing stronger OTC. Yes, wash the face, with a cleanser, first.

Aveda makes a special ultra-mosturizing product. It's not a cream or a serum. It's sort of a mask, but not quite. It's a clear gel. You can leave it on for 10 minutes... or overnight for more serious conditions (as yours may be).

You should try Clinique For Men Maximum Hydrator. It is definitely the most hydrating moisturizer I have found. For the most part my face is oily and when I use it makes my face greasy but if your skin is very dry then it should work well.

+1. I use Espa Hydrating cleansing milk. It doubles as a moisturizer and cleanser and is the best product I've ever used in my life. However, moisturizers are certainly personal products and results will vary. Happy shopping.

Just an update, guys. I took another good look at my skin and realized that I did indeed have sun damage, mostly along the left side of my body. My left arm is way more freckled than my right, the right side of my face is perfectly smooth while I was getting some aging on the left side. My guess is that my commute has been exposing my to the sun. Right after my last post, I resumed using Retin-A (0.04% concentration, I believ) again as it supposed to be effective in treating sun damage. I also started wearing sunscreen every day (Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 70), no exceptions. After a month, my skin has improved a lot. The offending wrinkle has smoothed out quite a bit and is no longer all that noticeable unless light hits it at a very specific angle, and my pores are much smaller looking. As for moisturizing, I'm still using the Cetaphil Ultra Hydrating Lotion, but not every day. If I can't work it into my routine, I skip it in favor of the Retin-A or sunscreen instead. Thanks a lot for steering me down the path of sun protection, my skin's a lot better for it.

Coming from someone who has went through the accutane struggle myself, I tried many products and found my favorite lineup to be Clarins for men products. They are quite pricey but I find them for ~20 for a bottle that lasts me a couple months at TJ MAXX. I use the antiwrinkle moisturizer along with the eye serum in the morning and the night creme... at night.
