A Convicted Sex Offender Just Moved Into My Neighborhood

Thread Starter
So I usually check the Megan's Law website whenever new people move into the neighborhood and this time one of the people actually showed up on the list. It doesn't say exactly what he did(lewd act wtf), but my real estate broker told me that this kind of thing does directly influence my home's value and he also stated that there is nothing that I can do about it. So my question to you is how would you deal with this situation? I don't have any concerns with kids, but I am trying to sell my house so I want this guy gone. What can I do legally to make him want to move out?

Just introduce yourself. Can't imagine what would make him want to move out more.

Don't bother, Peak. You can't top that.

That would be a nice and neighbour friendly thing to do

This, among other reasons, is why it always pays to live close to a good public school. Not only does that improve your property values in and of itself, but it also prevents convicted sex offenders from living nearby. I don't remember what the exact radius is, but while you can live within a certain radius of a school, they cannot.

Convicted sex offenders can live near private schools?

"Sex offender" is a surprisingly vague term. A good portion of the sex offenders out there got convicted for stuff like urinating in public and banging a 15 year old when they were 18, etc. Seriously.

^^What every sex offender says.
