easiest country to invade? - Page 9

^^I know we're playing armchair general and all but that won't work.

Found a video about a fairly recent coup attempt, Equatorial Guinea. If you haven't seen it yet or know nothing about it take a look. For you guys outside of America the video might not work.

And on a related note and like the video above, you get caught.

I might have a distant relative involved with this attempt, a old guy on house arrest, lol.

Invade Bangladesh. We hate our governmen

The problem with Bangladesh is that it smells like Bangladesh, or else somebody would have bothered by now. Try some of those Glade plug-ins in lavender scent.

Any of you guys heard of Bob Denard? French mercenary who successfully invaded the Comoros Islands and overthrew the regime with just 43 men in 1978. He lived the high life there until 1989 when the regime he backed was overthrown in murky circumstances. He went back in 1995 with 30 men to have another go - he again met with success until France stepped in and stopped him after a week. He was 66 years old by then.

I'd probably go for sark
Quote:
Sark (French: Sercq; Sercquiais: Sèr or Cerq) is a small island in the Channel Islands in southwestern English Channel, off the French coast of Normandy. It is a royal fief, geographically located in the Channel Islands in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, with its own set of laws based on Norman law and its own parliament. It has a population of about 600. Sark's economy depends primarily on tourism. Sark has an area of 2.10 square miles (5.44 km2)

I will have that and Jersey for tax purposes.

You want somewhere that has a high level of urbanisation and population density, meaning good road infrastructure, for transportation of supplies and a quick conventional victory wherein the majority of the country's human capital falls under your control. You don't want to be fighting a guerrilla war, so that means a place that places emphasis on conventional arms but can be overwhelmed by a large enough invasion force and sophisticated electronic warfare. That also requires a largely sedentary population that has a low penetration of small arms ownership and are not inclined to resist for reasons that do not lie beyond the rational. That means no invading religious zealots.

Moreover, the more geographically isolated the nation (remote island nations) the harder it is to launch a surprise attack. The sea has no where to hide an invasion/occupation force. This goes doubly for anywhere with at the very least, a navy or airforce that can delay an invasion force long enough for its allies to engage. This means that we must rule out any country with no standing army, as they all have allies with large armies standing behind them in order for them to accept that position.

For the purposes of speculation, I will assume that I have under my control the entirety of NATO and its allies. This is the only force that can meaningfully launch an invasion given naval supremacy. Hence, we can narrow our choice down to: Mauritius, Panama, Haiti and Vanuatu. We could most probably eliminate their entire government and secure a forward operating base within half a day of fighting/massacre/flying planes overhead with threats.

Definitely Monaco. Way nicer than any of those other places, and seriously, you could make back your money readily. Just don't call it an invasion. Say that it is now your protectorate, and allow the royal family to continue ruling, with you as the "democratically elected" dictator-in-chief. You just take a small clothing stipend from the coffers, and you are good to go. Plus, front seats at the Formula One races. Win.

If you are on a budget, and also feel like snubbing France, and want to feel like Napoleon in exile, invade St. Pierre and Miquelon, small Islands off the coast of Newfoundland belonging to France (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Pierre_and_Miquelon).
