Not a fan. Of course the pictured blazers are the worst possible examples though and put a even worse complexion on it... Some better examples: Neil Barrett

I considered buying a leather blazer earlier this year but ultimately decided against it. I had the opportunity to buy a beautiful piece with a perfect fit at a steep discount. But here's the thing about a black leather blazer. Even if the fit, construction, and minor detailing are all perfect it's STILL A BLACK LEATHER BLAZER and the connotations are so overwhelming poor that it's near impossible to make it sincerely cool.

And no matter how well I rock it and how exotic my weekends might be, I'm still a dude who works in a bank Monday to Friday. I'm not Slash. I'm not Lenny Kravitz. I'm not Julian Casablancas.

But strangely enough I can pull off the black motorcycle jacket with panache.

I seriously don't see the big deal. It's a common style of piece in a different material. This is the one I own:

I love it. The fur being detachable basically makes it two entirely different jackets in one.

not really that bad imo, but i think i'd probably just go with a leather jacket if i wanted to wear leather, and i'd go with a wool blazer/sportcoat if i wanted a blazer/sportcoat

Leather blazers are supremely hard to pull off unless you're a middle aged rockstar. And even them they're very gauche. On anyone who looks like they do anything other than compose music all day and do lines of cocaine, they look very try-hard.

Yeah same here (although I don't work in a bank). I can't pull it off. My leather jackets are limited to several motorcycle jackets and one 3/4 length Aero leather overcoat.

Hell, I've had my class M license since 1995 and used to commute on my motorcycle (I was too poor to afford insurance on a car back then). Wearing a motorcycle jacket is second nature. But I can't do the leather blazer at all.

they can look perfectly fine as long as they are well tailored.

This is one of the few leather blazers I would ever consider wearing if any.

When I worked at Barney's, we had a really sick one from the house brand. Perfect slim fit and looked great with black jeans and a white tee. Would have insta-kopped if I had the dough.

I think leather blaszers are way mroe doable then most people think.

That jacket represented Sailor's individuality in Wild At Heart.
