I thought of the cult similarities too. I'm not sure if all that cyanide would qualify as eco-friendly though.

This is obviously hippie bullshit, but it's important that there is a political ease to start these things. It's good that people can choose and organize ways to live with like-minded people and do it with minimal interference from bureaucrats. Based on the degree of their self sufficiency there should be a proportional degree of political independence given to them. I couldn't really fault them if they wanted their own laws and tax structure as long as they weren't dependent on other civil services. And the 2:00 mark of that last video is gold.

Are you allowed to bring in veal?

If you like eco-villages so much, you should consider moving out of the U.S.

Just move to a country like Japan, or some in EU, which are probably eco-villages on a country scale. Of course, they eat whale and dolphin there so you may think they are evil, but if you ignored that it might be your place.

Good question. Also are there any strip clubs in these villages. Just wanting to know about the lifestyle and whatnot.

I've always thought we should drag all of the hippies away and stick them into camps, so this sounds like the next best thing.

If, as StephenHero posits, this is all latter-day hippieism, you can rest assured the eco-village lifestyle will be one of free love and lots of nudity.

No strip clubs necessary.

I have worked my ass off to not have to associate with people that look like that or have that (low) level of hygiene. WTF would I seek this out?

That said, if they raise a nice gavage foie gras, I would patronize their meat counter.

LOL at the irony of them having a website (dancingrabbit.org). What they're doing would be impossible without certain technological advances developed by industrialized society. Whatever. I'm off to find a dolphin steak for lunch.
