I seem to remember there are widely varying rules as to when the SOL starts to run on a mechanic's lien.

Actually, after a (very) little thought I'm pretty sure that one way or the other you would have to pay. After all you did get something (electrical work) and the law is not crazy about unjust enrichment. The legal details of how you would be find to owe some $ will likely vary.

OK...update...apparently the contractors claim they aren;t paying the electrician because he didn't get the correct inspections done on the work
This is real BS...
I think I should just take 10% off our contracted price for all my aggravation!
