Great place, have been there twice and loved it both times except for one small issue. I got the feeling from some local people that people of my origin (I am Indian) were not welcome.

I was turned away from the Do & Co restaurant even though I though I was staying at the Do & Co hotel AND the place was almost empty saying that I had no reservation. Left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I beg to differ.

Hell, saying German food is bad when this thread is about Vienna implies that the Viennese cuisine is bad, which is a frankly ridiculous notion.

American culture = British culture

Austrian culture has lesser in common with the German culture (or at least in the last 140 years) as the American Culture has with British. In fact Vienna has more to do with Milan and Venice (not to speak about Prague and Budapest) that with Berlin or Leipzig (some to do with Munich or Cologne, but that is another cup of tea).
And BTW, some of the German food is bad, but not the Austrian!
My opinion!
