What's the best Tequila available at BevMo?

A friend of mine's favorite drink is tequila and I want to pick up a nice bottle for him. I do not feel like going anywhere else besides BevMo and my budget is $150. What would you recommend?

Patron is not an option.

Just go into Bevmo and ask. They probably have at least 50 tequillas there - at least 30 of which are good.

There is a huge difference between good and bad tequilla and the threshhold for that is only about $40. Above that everything else is subtle difference, but just go and see what Wilford Wong gives his ratings to

For about $90 at BevMo or Total Wine you should be able to get the premium Milagro. It's hard to miss, the presentation bottle is very nice, a hand blown agave inside the bottle. Reposado is less, obviously, and anejo a bit more. Both are stellar for the money but the reposado is the best deal and easiest to sip (the more aged has a bit too much oak, IMO).

My vote goes to El Tesoro Anjeo or Casa Noble Extra Anjeo or Single Barrel (the latter two might not be avaliable or at least not avalaible online).

Do you prefer anjeo over reposado? I've come to the conclusion, that for once in my life, I prefer the less costly version of something.

Not always, but usually. I appreciate the relative youthfulness and bite of repesados, but when it boils down to something I'd like to enjoy on a regular basis I usually veer towards something more complex (at least to my palate) like an anjeo.

Also, the Casa Noble and El Tesoro aren't mere anjeos, they are extra anjeo which means five plus years of aging. I find these to be entirely different than regular anjeos and truly where my preference lies. You should really pick up an extra anjeo and give it a shot. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
