Nipple Ring(s)

Ok so I used to have one of my nipples pierced, and had to take it out for a stupid reason (not due to infection or anything like that), and I would like to get it re-pierced. My question is, can I get the same nipple pierced or will there be scar tissue in the way? Also, does anyone know of a way to protect it during sports? I play soccer at a fairly high level and don't really want to have my nipple ripped off or get slammed in the tit with a ball.

Why not get a Prince Albert instead? As long as you're not taking Karate, problem solved.
