Just buy a pair of raw somethings that don't hurt your wallet so you really don't care if it works or not. If that is a pair of raw 501s, fine. APCs, fine. They will either be your "work jeans" that you don't care much about or really amazing. Nobody knows.

Dry cleaning is a pain in the ass. It takes me forever to get my butt over there and back when they're done.

How much should I pair for a pair of 501's? I've never bought them before.

This thread is all about you and your pants which is swell as it relates to clubs and snatching up babes...but you're a server for Christ's sake and the folks sitting where you slop down the food don't give a fuck about what you're wearing, unless you don't wash them like maybe every single day. That's why all the +1s.

cannot guarantee it'll work, but it'd be what i would do, I usually wear 510's in the lab if I think I could get chems on them.

This. Wearing jeans exposes them to all sorts of risk and damage, so you should only wear jeans you don't care about outside the house. The jeans you really like should be kept under glass, preferably in a climate-controlled, dust-free environment.
