Hi all,

First starting post in this patch of SF. So greetings and please join in the mix. Obviously, I am bored at work and the Devil's mind has conjured up this threak. Topic combines two of the best things in my life; clothes and music. Well I lied, but don't tell my wife and baby gal that.

Do you guys listen to anything in particular or just have the radio on while getting dressed? Does it affect your style of clothes, colours, shoes, ties, etc. All this within the boundaries of where you heading, season, time of day etc.

I like to start the working day in a relaxed mood so I've been listening to Yeasayer's "I remember" and their new album a lot but in the last few months it's been a mix bag of The Drums, Mumford & Sons and all the crap from now to the 80s when I started enjoying & collecting music. BTW, I will be 40 this year so that will give you a gauge. The stuff makes me dress in a slightly whimsy relaxed and discreetly flamboyant manner. Very fey indeed but I'm in perpetual summery Singapore half of the time and hate looking like the rest of the droids here. So it's bespoke cotton shirts, cotton Mabitex, grenadine or knitted Drake ties and chestnut Sergeants or suede CJs.

When I travel I tend to listed to some stuff from the country I'm in or if I'm headed for kickass, balls-on-the-table sort of meeting with clients I listen to Al Pacino's half-time speech from the movie "Any Given Sunday". Corny and trite to some of you, but deeply inspirational to me. This makes me turn out in my standard battle armour business suits by Chan, sober Dunhill ties and handgrade CJs.

Anyways, what do you guys listen to?

P.S I was having an internal debate as to which patch of SF to post this in so if this does not belong here, please point me in the right way. Main reason is I spend lots of time here too

IDK. Never really play music to dressing up. Although I sometimes play on some iTunes when I'm getting ready, it's mostly just background music. I don't think it affects my dress.

But, in general, music definitely does influence my style somehow, but not very literally. Cliche but true. I've been listening to classic Radiohead lately, not that it means I'm looking grungey, just fits my recent mood.

Can you tell I'm also just bored at work right now? Haha.

Being my Roommate has been building custom tube amplifiers from scratch for three decades, and I Love to dress, I would say this has to be my all time favorite thread on SF. I like to blast some (1)"Skin Tight" by the Ohio Players, (2)"I Know You Got Soul" by Bobby Byrd, or some (3)"Get UP For THE Downstroke by Parliament, when I throw on the Navy 1926 bespoke double breasted suit with wide lapels, Wide brimmed light-meduim grey 1940's fedora with a slight bluish tint, then look in the mirror part my hair, and smile as I simultaneous see my own Reflection Shinin' on to the Funky Rhythm. That is the moment I let myself know "I am the The Baaaadest Mutha F&^%$@N 120 pound Jewish White Boy from the suburbs of Del Mar, CA who has ever lived." If I'm going out for a walk in a summers day, and I want to Floss something really clean and minimalistic( slate grey 40's wide brim fedora, meduim grey or navy suit, Silver Houndstooth tie, and a white "TV fold" Pocket Square) I will play (4) "Got My MOJO Working" by Muddy Waters, Or Some (5)"Turn On Your Love Light" by Bobby Blue Bland, or maybe some (6) "At Last" by Etta James If I am going out dancing with some ladies, and bringing out the charcoal three piece with the light grey chalkstripes, the Black 7 Fold Polka dot tie, and the Beaver Homburg. I will play (7)"I'm looking for a Fox" by Clarence Carter, or (8)"Give IT UP" by Lee Dorsey (9) "Hollywood Squares" Bootsy Collins. If I'm going to the Club to get Wild N' Out and getting dressed in a ripped worn and faded Black leather A-1 Jacket, some high rise vintage Levi Jeans( cuffed), a wide brimmed slate grey fedora again, and a navy and white V-neck striped sweater, I could blast (10) "Woof" by Snoop, (11) "Here I GO" By Mystikal, or some (12) "Git In THERE" by Betty Davis or another track(13) "NASTY GAL" by Betty Davis also. The last jam I always play when I finish getting dressed, or come back at 6 in da Mornin' to get undressed is of course my all time favorite Jam... EVER (14) "Luv N' Haight" by Sly and the Family Stone (1 ) (2 ) (3 ) (4 ) (5) (6)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVI254QGSQ4 (7)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qdmcxcszznw (8)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM7gcOu2zeE (9)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJoh7...ext=1&index=36 (10)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mE7lTMxlJI0 (11)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G9lUD02GVc (12)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnHxT0rrl6E (13)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wr3FdxnNHo (14)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByRvjEKfGOo

Depends what I'm doing that day.

Work: The Black Keys, The Beatles, Stones, old Jeff Beck, Zeppelin, old Kings of Leon, Bob Dylan, Bowie, BRMC... basically good rock

Evening out: CeU, Charlie Parker, Art Blakey, Harold Land, Clifford Jordan & John Gilmore's 'Blowing In From Chicago', Jack Wilson, Red Garland, Sinatra... basically good jazz or some latin fusion

That new Black Keys album is the ****.

Not that I get dressed to music but its usually on some shuffle i-Tunes...so anything from 3rd Base to Woody Guthrie. I have a lot of Morrissey and Smiths in there, Band of Horses, Frightened Rabbit, and Old Crow Medicine Show so those guys tend to come on more than some others.

Unfortunately my kids do, and whatever Disney Radio BS is playing down the hall in infiltrates our bedroom.

My answer is Disney Radio. I'm not the only one.

No music, tv, or radio. I prefer to have things quiet until time for the morning commute.
