Returns

I sold a pair of APC jeans to a member. I provided accurate information but the jeans fit him tighter than he would like. I do not believe this is a fault that I am responsible for. what does everyone here think?

thanks in advance for your answers

Did you specify no returns? If not, just accept it and have him eat the shipping. No one likes being locked into a purchase when the fit isn't a sure bet, even if accurate measurements were given. I would avoid buying from people who did not accept returns.

Do most people? I've always assumed everything is no returns, unless the item has been misrepresented. If the measurements are accurate and it doesn't fit, just re-sell.

I thought the no returns was understood. I sold the pair of 160$ apc jeans for 60$ shipped...so we are not talking about a large scale purchase.

I also just assumed that B&S was no returns. This is not Nordstroms.

Yep. He can just sell them again too.

I have no idea if accepting returns represents the majority or minority of SF B&S transacts, but that's why it always pays to state your terms very clearly. If anyone else who is an infrequent seller here is reading this, remember it well. In all honesty, at this point, it's all a power play. If you don't plan to sell anything else on here, you can tell him to shove it (as long as you've met any chargeback requirements) and win. If you do sell stuff on here and it's a senior member with some pull, you might have to eat it. Sucks for you either way. Personally, I think it's unreasonable to want to return the item in question, provided they're new or very near-new and were sold at this kind of discount. Them's the breaks in online buying.

Returns? lol. These are craigslist-type transactions. Not a department store. At least something like APC jeans can be re-listed here at no real loss provided they are in a normal size. Sounds like the guy has never worn slim jeans before and is all "oh shit, help it's tight!"

One guy on here said he assumed returns were possible unless otherwise stated. Disagree. The buyer should not expect to be able to return unless it was stated that he could.

His B&S reputation should not suffer for this either - he made no misrepresentations.

I've bought items before that haven't fit and assumed no returns. I just turned around and resold them for cost minus some extra shipping charges. My feeling is that forum purchases are no return unless otherwise specified or requested.

All private transactions are legally final sale. Unless the measurements were way off or the item is defective, I see no moral obligation for a return. Just resell the thing! This ain't Bloomingdale's!

B&S is a car-boot sale. Would you go back to some guy you bought something from in a bar because it stopped working? You guy second hand/ discounted/ or otherwise non-normal products then you don't get any security with it at all. I personally think the people who offer returns are being beyond the call of duty.
