Chain stitched hem w/wrinkle

When you guys have a pair of jeans chain stitched, in order to get the wrinkle effect when the jeans are washed, do you ever find that the wrinkle extends up beyond the hem? If this isn't normal, is this due to the stitching being too tight?

First pic depicts what I'm talking about, second shows the other leg. Would this just iron out?

pretty sure this will just iron out... but i'd view it as a step towards some serious roping

This is terrific.

We buy denim; the democratic, working fabric celebrated for its association with hard-bitten cowboys, dustbowl icons, rosie the riveter, rock'n'rollers and skinheads.

And then we scream: Oh no, there's a wrinkle in my hem!

The solution, of course, is to cut them off at the knee and wear them as shorts.

That would be correct. Anyone who spends as much of their lives posting about clothing as we do has a touch of it in some form.

Because you always seem to have something constructive to say

And don't ever call it a wrinkle again.

Thread is worthless, never gotten any useful info there, too jumbled. That's the problem with it and why I don't use it or the "Ask a question" thread.

And what's a better term, roping? Never quite knew what that referred to...

Well, to be fair, this is a pair that will be worn for work/business/meetings/etc. They were hemmed on the shorter side so as to pair well with a dressier shoe, so that's why I'm a bit OCD about how they look. I know, 99.99% of people would never notice, but hey, we dress for the 0.01% here...

I don't get why everyone always says those threads are useless.... Every time I go in there (and I do answer questions in both and check regularly) questions are being answered. The only times I don't answer questions in there are when I don't know the answer or if the answer is easily searched - "how do i size apcs", etc. So that's a completely nonsensical argument. And yes, roping is the correct term (named for the effect of the pull at the hem which looks like a rope)

Because it's so easy for stuff to get missed, w/o a separate title it's easy for you to accidentally post right within an ongoing discussion and everyone's paying attention to that. It all becomes a bit of a jumble.

I'm not really sure why each board on here doesn't have a couple sub-forums. Like on here:

Jeans-only
All things footwear
Blazers and outerwear
Bags, wallets, watches and other accessories
Tops
All non-denim bottoms

It wouldn't go missed. The only questions in those threads that go unanswered are those which people don't feel like answering (APC questions) or don't know (inane things or opinions)

because this would be irritating and unnecessary. the forum works fine as it is
