Buying and Selling Etiquette

Thread Starter
Just a few thoughts. Feel free to add your own.

Things I like as buyer:

1. Good pictures and an accurate description of the item.
2. A response to most questions within 24 hours, excluding holidays.
3. A PM on the day that the item ships.
4. A PM with a tracking number if a tracking service is requested.

Things I hate as a seller:

1. Lowball offers.
2. People telling me how much they think my item is worth.
3. People asking for a tracking number even though they did not request tracking and know that I'm shipping USPS.
4. Daily PMs asking when the item will arrive.
5. More questions about the item after it has shipped, but before they get it.
6. Requests for "support" for the item after they receive it. **Real example: One of the buttons on some denim you sold me a few months ago popped off. What should I do?**

As a buyer: - +1 on decent photos, it really does make a world of difference. - Measurements, measurements, measurements. - An adequate description of the item; the condition, fabric composition, ect. As a seller: - Never hold items for people. - Should always provide a tracking # when shipping USPS, since it's only like 75cents. - Don't ask me how to wear something, wtf.

As a buyer: 1) "NWOT." I'm not blind. I can tell when an article of clothing has been washed. Just tell me the truth, to the extent that you know it. 2) Guys who buys things on B/S then resell them, upping the price significantly. This also annoys me as a seller. Sometimes I (and others) may want to pass on a deal. Don't take advatage of it. As a seller: 1) Expiring hardball offers - eg, "If you take (asking price -$100) in the next 5 minutes, plus ship to Hong Kong, you have a deal." Yeah, how about no. 2) People who buy an item, send payment, and then tell you they are overseas. Happens often. 3) Dudes who say, "I'll take it," then ignore all follow up PMs. One dude in particular is addicted to this one. I'm willing to hold things b/c I understand people may be on their blackberries or whatever, but don't abuse it.

When I ask for measurements and see that they won't work for me, I let the seller know and appreciate when buyers do the same when I sell. Not a huge deal, but seems like the curteous thing to do.

Good:
-Pictures that don't need to be clicked to view (I'm lazy).
-Extreme advertising.

Not good:
-Removing all trace of the items once sold. B&S is a goldmine for referencing measurements and pictures for items. Mostly jeans.
-Pictures in some huge-ass resolution requiring side scrolling just to even see 1/4 of the item.

This, I hate when I go back to check for measurements or something and the post is edited with "SOLD"

I'm guilty of that

I have been caught by the overseas thing too. I wish they would just keep everything out in the open.

+1. And how's about not just listing labels in the title, but what these labels are attatched to, i.e., pants, polos, whatthefuckever.

Yeah, I don't get this. Esp when I'm trying to figure out pricing and 5% of the entries for whichever brand are edited out.

Oh, and I will never deal with someone who cuts off contact, whether buying or selling. Basically like turning and walking away from someone in the middle of a conversation

I always edit shit out when sold or I get pm's til eternity about the item because people can't read and just look at the pics.

I had one fukker a long time ago tell me that "his friend" said my rogues gallery shawl neck was only worth 40 bux and let me know when I'm ready to sell for that much. If I have the time I like to fukk with them back and forth to get them excited and then sell to someone else.

And don't tell me you want something and then proceed to ask me a million questions about it afterwards. If you want it you send paypal there will no more question and answer period after you want to buy it. Or after you find out it fits you perfectly and the stage is set then try to lowball me. Fool I already know you want it and it fits so price ain't comin down.

-When I sell an item, I usually contact the buyer to check if he received the item and whether my description of the item accurately represents the product. So far, so good.
-When selling don't be a cheap mofo, always include a tracking number and print out the labels from paypal because it is cheaper.
