Hair to make me look older

Hey, im a 18 year old guy who looks like he is about 16. For example, in Canada you can buy lottery tickets at 18 and I am constantly told my identification must be a forgery, and refused. Although this isn't the reason I want a new haircut, it is certainly an example of the extremity of the situation.

What style of haircut could make me look older? Currently I usually go into a budget haircutters and just tell them the length I want my hair to be. I don't know much more then that, could I just go in and tell them I want my hair to look good, provided I go to a more upscale place? Any advice is appreciated

Hmmmmmmmm. Can't buy lottery tickets 'cause ya look too young. That's actually a pleasant predicament and you will understand that down the road. Hair style often depends on the shape of the face, the color of it and the color of your hair. A picture?

Changing your hair style wont help. You just got to take it like it is. Shoot im 20 and still get carded for R rated movies.

Make an appointment with a hair stylist. If you live in a large city, I'm sure there are reviews somewhere on the net for good hair salon's for guys. If you live in a smaller city, ask your lady friends.

Walk in there, and tell them "you want to look older" .. close your eyes and go with it. If you don't like it instantly, wait a week or two, it might "grow" on you.

Also .. patchwork facial hair helps. I usually gain 8-9 years just by not shaving. Depending on who you ask .. I've been told I "look 16" when I'm all cleaned up, to I "look 25" with the beard. I'm 24, so I usually rock the beard.

You might want to ask your dad. My dad has been using the same barber for 20+ years. He run's his own shop now. I wouldn't get my hair cut by him, but maybe there is a cute girl or two working in your dad's barbershop.

You'd get better advice if you posted your pic or described your hair type.

I do have some suggestions, though. Basically, go for a shortish cut (not buzzed) with longer bangs. The purpose is to allow (or exaggerate) more of your forehead to be visible, especially the corners of your hairline, where your bangs meet your upper "sideburns".

There's a pic of the actor that plays Toby from The Office. Obviously it's more extreme than the look you'd get, but hopefully you can kinda see what I'm basing my idea off of.

Honestly, I really don't have a problem with his hair as it is, but you may want to tweak it to better fit your style.

Get it dyed platinum blond.

Don't buzz short, it's pretty unstylish and looks a little juvenile. Start with a tapering menswear cut and just alter things as you like (fring, longer, shorter, etc)
