I've always had oily skin prone to breakouts. I've tried a number of products to get it under control, with some success except for dealing with the redness (there will still be red spots even if there's no pimple and the red spots stay for days/week.)
I've tried lots of 2% salycilic acid pads (Oxy) , 5% benzol peroxide washes (Oxy), regular face washes (Zirh clean, Neutrogena) and a few of those premium blemish removers (Biotherme imperfection cream or something like that) and have been able to surpress breakouts with some success, but not eliminate the redness.
90% of the products out there seem to be basically salicylic acid or benzol peroxide. Is there something else I can try to relieve the redness? Also, I shave over the area, is that just making it worse, or does it make no difference?

It's the lest aggressive razor I've ever used. It's a single blade with a guard on the blade itself. You wont finish the shave with smooth skin, but it will not irritate your skin a bit; a lesser of two evils. As for the redness, get some spray on tan and use it on your face at night. Having bronze skin makes irritation much less noticeable. As for getting pimples in the first place, please tell me you have used Rx creams/pills/treatments before? I'll never understand people who deal with acne problems constantly and never try any of the several silver bullets just one order away. Here is a reputable site for ordering Rx products:
