Need a new york restaurant recommendation! - Page 3

Thank you everyone! I had chicken liver, followed by the pork shoulder, and my main course was lamb chop. My desert was a delicious chocolate cake with hazelnut gellato on top. My date enjoyed the pasta with ollives, something green i didn't notice (which was tasty apparently) and the veal chops. She also ordered the 3 flavors of gellati. Everything was absolutely incredible, and we were both blown away. I ordered the affordable but nonetheless, tasty, passarina colli apprutini 2008 white wine and the amaro cora for the after dinner drink. The total bill came out to 220 including tax and tip - i meant to tip 25 percent, but i completely forgot about tax. For a high school student though, I feel even in an upscale establishment 17-18 percent tip is reasonable.

The girl was great (we didnt go anywhere physically but it was very fun and enjoyable nonetheless) and very impressed.

My suspicions that a nice restaurant would never stoop to the level of carding diners was confirmed even though I did have a fake on hand.

Thank you all so much for the superb recommendation and advice. I'll definitely check out the other restaurants--Merea looks incredible. My old standards were Antica Venezia in the meatpacking district if I was on a budget, and Terrace in the sky in Morningside if I wanted a great view and had some more money (though the food there is just above average in my opinion), but now I'm looking forwards to expanding my horizons.

I'm surprised you weren't carded, actually. I've been carded at Jean Georges, though I do look younger than my age.

I suppose it may have to do with the fact that I was on a date and there's a certain confidence that comes with knowing the fact that being carded doesnt matter (after i got my ID, i got carded substantialy less at liquor stores), although truth be told, I'm a little too young to be developing a taste in fine wine at nice restaurants and such. My high school parties still float on bud light and miller high life, and at the frat houses of washington and lee for my next four years, I see alot of svedka, natty lite, and smirnoff years.

Which of the aformentioned restaurants would you recommend for a Saturday lunch? And are reservations common for lunch?
