For me, this is not a bad thing. You can wear whatever you want and no one will care. "Bad" is living in one of those places where everybody cares what you wear and they expect you to look the same way.

Fuuma also does not like Seattle iirc. That is fine.

I definitely get some groupthink going on from posting here. I think expensive and/or high top sneakers look kinda goofy but just from reading people loving them here it makes me want to find a pair I like!

Yes, I agree.

MC has it worse, I think, because so many of them are steered entirely by Rules and Strictures of Classical Dress, and Hierarchies of Quality, and so forth. So their entire style is dictated by the forum.

I think SF can exercise a lot of sway over new members though, and feedback over a fit can be very persuasive if you don't have a strong individual sense of style. The thought "maybe if I buy APCs, they'll like me" might be quite compelling. I don't know personally because fuck APCs, I'm not going to drop 165 just to see if the sizing roulette works out in my favor this time, but I don't know how else you can justify the preponderance of two cuts of jeans on the forum.

Well that's not all groupthink. Part of it is introducing yourself to new things and getting over previous hang ups. A lot of times people think a certain type of item is lame or not for them but then they seen it worn well by someone or they try it on for themselves and realize it's cooler than they thought

Oh wait, sneakers coming in the mail tomorrow! I guess I'll slog through another day of torment. I'm going to wear them to my conference call with nothing but a ginch gonch man-thong and a nipple-less shirt. We'll see how the fucking environmentalists like that.
