Very very good shoefan.
Very good making,
Clicking and closing near instep raise questions,
it not flow good as could do,
it distract eye and not look quite right for some reason.

That last looks exceptionally well: nicely proportioned, no gimmicks. It just looks "right" (which is the most difficult thing to do).
I also like the pattern with it's high vamp point and snug top line (no excessive "sock cleavage" here).

Did you make the last from an oversized "rough" or did you fit-up (enlarge) an existing last?

Thank you! I am happy with the shoes, but there are lots of things that could be better, particularly the heels and edge finishing (pictures can be deceiving).

I made that last from one of my oversized last 'blanks.' Here is a picture of the finished last next to its mate, which starts out with the correct length -- or as close as one can get -- but needs to be taken down to match the customer's foot shape and dimensions, and of course to correspond to the desire toe shape.

First Fitting with Masaru OKuyama

Mr. O had chosen to make a simple oxford for the first fitting. I will have the real wholecut design for fitting next time.

At present, he has a good amount of work to do. Lots of areas need to be skied out.

I got the top lift from a shoemaker in London. I don't know if the Philips ones are still available, but I got an unbranded pack of 20 similar top lifts from a finder/grindery in London a few years ago.

Nah, to be Barrie you need to triple the heel width on that blank. teacha.gif

I once owned Alden's PTBs made on Barrie last. It is by far the most blob-like, shapeless and ugly last used by any decent factory out there.
