My question might sound stupid given the name of the thread, but the waist does not seem bevelled, and a bit wide compared to other Fosters bespoke. Of course the latter may be due to the specifications of your feet.
Anyway they are still beautiful!

I think the reason they may look a little heavier is that it appears both the inside and outside waists are square rather than bevelled so are not cut as close.Not all bespoke shoes need have a highly shaped fiddle waist although most shown on this forum tend to be of the 'dressy' type.Looks like a nice solidly made shoe and I agree they look very nice.Would like to see some slightly sharper photos also more detailed photos of DW 's boots would be good (sole finish etc...).

Go to post 1192 in this thread (page 80). Click on the small photo there. It will expand into a large photo and things are sharper in the large photo. I don't know how you could get sharper, to tell the truth.

I was taking photos to demonstrate a technique for using commercially available shrink wrap on these boots and didn't take any photos of the sole and heel. The boots have a beveled waist but not a fiddleback. I trim my waists pretty close to the shape of the insole so the waists are usually a bit narrow compared to a brogue.

I posted these in another thread, I think, and although they are not the ostrich boots they show how I handle the outsole. I've since refined and tightened the nail pattern on the heel. (Made these for myownself):

If I recall correctly, it was something you said or sketched or showed me a photo of, that eventually percolated up and inspired those. Getting the alligator right was the big deal. I really had to study the skins to get the inter-tile lines to come across the facings like that. Of course, it breaks down a bit when the facings aren't very close together but depending on where on the hide the facings are cut there are interesting effects that can be created.

Thanks, Sully. I do admire G&G styling/aesthetics. And I, personally, like a chisel toe. But thinking about it, I'd have to say there's too many other influences to really single out one. And considering I've been doing this for 40+ years, I hope there's more than a little DW in there.

I think I am a tad too young for these shoes but I actually love most of the ones that have been posted here. I still mostly use elegant sneakers and I mix thing up a bit with my Nubuck Wheat or Dark Tanned Timberland boots but I just don't still see my self if these shoes :D
