I originall posted that pic of the japanese Chartreuse to my facebook; the only people who 'liked' it were my weird hippy aunt and a gay musical theatre singer I went to art school with.

BTW, while having an Alaska at Eastern Standard, I overheard the bartender mention they were in the Top 25 cocktail bars in the U.S. as per the latest issue of GQ.

Later that day, I thumbed through that GQ at a magazine rack... first of all, there were a few questionable entries in there. Second of all, Chartreuse and The Last Word were prominently featured.

The end is nigh.

Ok-You got me interested. Is Chartreuse readily available at most liqueur stores? What can one expect to pay for a bottle of Chartreuse and Maraschino?

Availability is so state-and-store dependent I couldn't say. Pricewise, assume $50 and $30, respectively, for 750ml. ~ H

The OK liquor store near my parents had green Chartreuse and Luxardo for those prices.

I stopped by a new liqueur store today. Low and behold they had a bottle of the green chartreuse for $60. They did not carry Maraschino though. It appears that may be the hard one for me to locate.

The Beuser & Angus Special is a favorite cocktail of mine.. try it at home sometime.

1¾ oz Green Chartreuse
¾ oz lime juice
½ oz maraschino
½ bar-spoon sugar
1 small egg white

Shake all ingredients hard with ice and strain in to a large old fashioned glass filled with crushed ice. Top with 5 dashes orange flower water.

Saint Germain: シャルトリューズ　ヴェール (Chartreuse Green) 45ml グレープフルーツジュース (Grapefruit Juice) 20ml フレッシュレモンジュース (Fresh Lemon Juice) 15ml 卵白 (egg white, 1) 1個分 Shake for 10 minutes, serve in cocktail glass
