0% or so. I buy a lot of stuff in person and what I don't is usually stuff I am already familiar with and have tried on.

50%... I'm still way too much of an impulse buyer.

Although I am like you, I actually have a higher "immediate" rate. My body type is pretty average, so fit is usually not a problem, things that accentuate my long neck excepted).

That said, there are things that catch my eye, but that I quickly lose interest in, only to go back to them later. There are other things that push my boundaries. At the beginning, I'm not sure about it (a Margiela henley/faux cardigan sweatshirt was the latest thing) but after a while, then become a go to, or even favorite, piece.

And there are things I just don't seem to want to give up on, like Common Project Achilles Lows. I really like the concept, but that doesn't translate to liking it on my person. I have several pairs, but always find myself going to the higher cuts or the cuts with less padded ankles (like the now defunct shelltoes).

Basics like suits, thermals, jeans, etc.. are pretty close to 0%.

Overall I do have some duds or stuff I wear less but I go through phases...

Too often. Being in between sizes and living in an area where even J. Crew is a luxury is the perfect storm.

Too high. Perhaps it'll decrease as I find a use for some of the items I have around. I have some items that are half a size to a size large and those are obviously hopeless. How does the Amex return protection work?

My error rate has gone down the more money I spend (in terms of things I love). More money requires more thought/research. See Listi's sig for details.

I am very new to dressing well and started a few months ago (second semester in college)

The first dress shirts, ocbds, and flannels and nikes I bought I dont like so much any more. At first I thought dressing like a rapper would be a good style... I even bought baggy jeans, Now I realize how dumb that was. ( Thanks for saving me SF!!)

Now I am buying from cheaper places like H and M and j Crew and polo outlets. I still make some mistakes and buy things I realize I wont be able to wear much but rather than being 90% miss from a few months ago I'd say I am down to just 20% now. But I don't ever buy too much at once and H and M has a really good return policy at least.

i actually care a lot less about clothes than when i started liking clothes and way before sf. i just go on auto pilot and buy classic/ simple pieces. i am not an obviously good dresser like i was before. fit is probably the best thing i've learned here.

Out of the 15 or so purchases I've made from Yoox, I've kept 4. I don't really impulse buy anymore and don't buy often so now it's low.

I'd put myself at around a 40% error rate, simply due to uninformed or impulsive purchases.
