Louie on FX - Page 12

I don't know why....I can't really explain it, but I really didn't like the Afghanistan episode at all.

From the obviously not in Afghanistan setting, to the performance in the tent, to that annoying country singer. Oh, and the convenient helicopter landing and charming little grab the duck and fall down gag.

Real life Louis wouldn't do that...he'd let the duck go.

I dont know...I was really bored.

Best moment was the "spank me daddy" mom cameo. I LOL'd

I definitely agree with you. I am a huge fan of almost every episode, but this one really came off as corny.

It seems to be garnering extreme reactions. I must be getting soft in my old age because I thought the corny bits were underplayed and very poignant.

sure its heavy handed and the themes were broadly painted... but

I just view this episode as the ultimate FUCK YOU to the other comics out there who doubt that Louie CK is the current king of the hill... Louie had dane cook on an episode and hashed out things instead of being petty... now he's tackling things like actual USO tours and themes of war...

I don't see adam sandler or dane cook doing anything remotely poignant and ambitious as the Afghanistan episode... even in movies... and this was a just a single episode in a small series on FX.

It looked like a short film by a great director at times. The way he let scenes linger, like playing the whole country song about dead soldiers, or the US vs Iraqi soccer kickaround.
