I turned 30 last year and felt the urge to buy a pair of tassels. I purchased the Alden for Brooks Brothers color 8 shell cordovan tassel loafers. I like this shoe very much. The aberdeen last works very well for my feet and I find the shape to be appealing to the eye. I have tried wearing with a suit, but I much prefer to wear them with flannel pants and a navy sport coat. I find they fit me better than the full straps because of the higher vamp.
I am looking forward to tracing down a pair in Ravello. Mac has inspired me once again.

I hate tassel loafers with a passion. Most awful shoe ever made.

I bought a well made pair of Cole Haan hand sewn tassle loafers made in Italy in the '80's and never wore them. My subconscious knew better.

Once I joined Styleforum and learned about style, I cut the tassles off.

Socks for pictures only.

I have worked in a shoe store that sold Alden in the late 90's for about 4 years. Before working at the shoe store, I wore lot of loafer - horsebit, kilt mostly and few tassel. I was in thr early 20's. Saw only white hired old men wearing tassel. Havenot wear tassel since then. I do not see myself wearing tassel anytime soon even though I am in 40's now.

Old thread, but I'm 35 and occasionally wear tassels. I'm not white haired; I'm bald. If you like them wear them. If you don't, don't. But don't let others' choices determine what you wear.
