Watch connoisseurs might be saddened to hear this news today. The Swatch Group controlled many of the industry's most storied names such as Omega, Tissot, and Longines as well as respected collectors' brands such as Breguet, Blancpain, Jaquet Droz, and Glashutte Original.

wow, that guy singlehandidly brought back the Swiss watch industry from the brink of death. SWATCH (the watch) was his idea to take on the cheap Japanese quartz watches of the time and then he grew SWATCH (the company) into the huge industry leader it is. He did have the bad habit of wearing about 5 watches on each wrist.
