Lacoste vs Izod

I'm just curious, as I have some decent "Izod" polos from TJMaxx, and a few great Lacoste polos.
Is Izod just a market name, like Chaps is? Or is it made solely for a "lower end" market?

Izod and Lacoste are two different companies. Many years ago, Izod was a distributor for Lacoste in the US, but that is no longer the case.

Izod actually owned the company for a number of years and used the Lacoste logo branded under Izod Lacoste. After Izod had some major debt issues they were forced to sell the brand back and thus change their logo to what we see now. So for a while they were one in the same, but for many years they have been seperate.
