I Know It's Brioni But ... - Page 2

I wasn't being sarcastic, cryptic, or anything else. Just don't like them. Though I never considered a casual style with them. Probably because I would not buy a Brioni to wear casually. I do agree they would look better in a more casual ensemble. Skalogre (and anyone else who knows): Am I really out of touch or is Sarah McLachlan gay?

Her music, her fans or she herself? She is actually married to her live band's drummer (male) afaik. Oh, I have to mention this as I find it entertaining. I have read articles with reports that she is incredibly foul-mouthed (I believe one article made a comparison to seafarers). Wait a minute! I just recognised the lyrics in your sig. Good song.

She's straight, but maybe goes bi...?

I read in a Details interview with her back in the early 90s how she said she likes to swallow.

I don't really keep up with the gay rumours much, but the ones I do hear are ridiculous and obviously started just to talk shit. It doesn't matter to me anyways, as my opinion of celebrities I like never falls if they come out. Unless of course I was dating one... and she was female... that would suck.

The reason I asked about her was that I was listening to Mirrorball and part of the lyrics of one of the songs were talking about another woman whom she loved and couldn't bear to lose, etc. And I listened to some of the other songs and wondered if the lyrics meant something else.

In any event, she has a great voice and I would still love her singing regardless. Yes, some of her songs do contain the f-word. So, I wouldn't be surprised to hear she uses it in everyday speech.

Mirrorball... I think that was not too long after she lost her mother to cancer IIRC. I don't know the song you are referring to.

I agreed with your decision not to buy them.

Skalogre: Re Sarah -- I just looked at the full lyrics to Good Enough and I got a whole different feel for it. I don't think she's talking about gay love. If what you said about her losing her mother is true, then it could be she's singing in the voice of her mother and revealing some of her (Sarah) inner feelings:

"Hey your glass is empty
It's a hell of a long way home
Why don't you let me take you
It's no good to go alone
I never would have opened up
But you seemed so real to me
After all the bullshit I've heard
It's refreshing not to see
I don't have to pretend
She doesn't expect it from me

Don't tell me I haven't been good to you
Don't tell me I have never been there for you
Don't tell me why
Nothing is good enough

Hey little girl would you like some candy
Your momma said that it's OK
The door is open come on outside
No I can't come out today
It's not the wind that cracked your shoulder
And threw you to the ground
Who's there that makes you so afraid
You're shaken to the bone
And I don't understand
You deserve so much more than this
So don't tell me why
He's never been good to you
Don't tell me why
He's never been there for you
Don't you know that why
Is simply not good enough
So just let me try
And I will be good to you
Just let me try
And I will be there for you
I'll show you why
You're so much more than good enough..."

I think that last line is simple yet profound.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_M...nd_Lilith_Fair I think I got the dates wrong; Mirrorball was released before her mother's death. Edit: And I assume this is the interview http://www.aquezada.com/sarah/articl...ils-jan98.html

A FRIEND OF MINE COULD ONLY DESCRIBE YOU AS UNICORNY --AND SHE'S A FAN. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR PERSONA IS? Oh, you know --Sarah McLachlan, the ethereal, poetic, waiflike fairy who burns incense, reads poetry all day, and lives in a fucking tree. I mean, I am sensitive and I do have wind chimes and a hot tub and I am into homeopathic medicines and herbs, but I also like a good scotch sometimes.

This is one of the more bizarre thread detours I've seen recently. And that's impressive, considering we're talking about SF.

When I first saw this thread I thought, No I probably would never consider them either, but I could see Jason rocking those. Lo and behold, three posts later he thinks you were kidding. Jason, I want to live in your world man.

I like the material, but there is no way I could pull that off and not offer someone a great deal on a used subaru.
