  • Random restaurants that are really unique or tasty, hole-in-the-wall is fine (nothing with entrees averaging >$30 a person please)
  • Cool bars, ideally romantic. Wine bars, really hip lounges, as long as there is a great vibe. Speakeasy vibe can also work. Super bonus points for interesting music - I am reminded of an Argentine wine bar I went to in Saigon with a friend that was playing some kind of sexy South American jazzy music in the background, not too unlike Buena Vista Social Club. Something like that would be cool. Not looking for places BLASTING music or too crowded with people.
  • Anything else that's worth checking out, but nothing touristy. Not looking to go sight-seeing.

Thanks.

Well, as she will be showing you around, why don't you let her do just that? Afterall, it is the thought that counts. Now that is out of my system, may I suggest:

1. A Walk along the boardwalk in the East Beaches followed by a steak dinner at The Tulip restaurant (1610 Queen Street East , Toronto ON M4L1G2; http://www.toronto.com/restaurants/listing/230591)
2. Depending on the timing of your visit, you may be able to take advantage of Summerlicious ( http://www.toronto.com/summerlicious ) where you could sample a wide variety of diverse and innovative cuisine through prix-fixe menus. Recommending Auberge du Pommier, Biff's Bistro, Bymark, Canoe, Drake Hotel and Sassafraz.
