As long as you're still saving/investing the majority, it's probably fine.

that's the differnce between having kids and not....

I spend around 700 euros per month on flying lessons.
900 euros per year on gym membership.
200 a week for a personal trainer.
Each time I take the jetski out is about 80 euros
Waterskiing is about 40 euros
Boating in itself about 4000 per year. (Jetski and Boat maintenance/insurance and winter
storage).

When I look at this I'm quite surprised to be honest, I didn't expect I spent this much on hobbies.

Yes, what a terrible financial decision you made there!

200 a week on a personal trainer? just ask Why for advice, that is free!

I have two major hobbies: golf and offshore fishing/boating. I used to play a lot more golf and probably spent a hundred dollars per week or so on it. Since getting more into offshore fishing, I only go out for an occasional round when the weather's nice or I'm signed up for a charity scramble. I probably only spend about $1K or less per year now.

Offshore fishing/boating is a pretty expensive and time consuming hobby, though! From the initial investment to maintenance to reloading of supplies and, finally, the cost per trip...I've never really put a figure on it because I'm afraid to know!

currently, I allot probably abourr $1-2K a year to any "hobby". Anything from snowboarding to fragrance, etc. If it's something like clothing then maybe more like $2-3K or so, but with clothes, food/drink, etc to me that's more lifestyle then anything else. So collectively it's probably like $10K a year which makes for an overall enhanced lifestyle.

I was just thinking about this and it seems I have a lot of hobbies, but some have fallen into disregard.

Running is awfully cheap because I'm easy on the clothing, keep the durables for a while, and shoes I can usually find for $40-50 a pair, and I tend to stock up on good deals. So, maybe a few hundred a year on shoes, and that's about it.

Guitar: I'm out of the acquisition phase and into practice/lessons. I think it's under $150 a month for weekly lessons.

Sailing: that's the kicker. Boat and rehabilitation have been a major sting to the pocketbook, but marina fees are the only consistent cost and that's $200 a month.

I can't peg it as a percentage of income right now as I just don't have the data...its changing too much since I graduated (increasing in some things/decreasing in others).

I want to keep sailing but its certainly going to cost more than the $75 quarterly team dues I was paying in school. It would be significantly more if I buy a dinghy (laser) and try to keep it in a chicago harbor...not as much if I bring down my windsurfer and keep it in a storage room at my apartment (but then I become much more sensitive to wind/water conditions since I don't have a car to follow the wind and can only launch across from my apartment). There are also options involving crewing on other boats (doing the chicago-mac this year) but those either cost money or tie me to other people's schedules.

I have not been buying a lot of expensive bike parts lately but cyclocross season is coming and I might want to buy a new bike...even if I don't, I have a couple hundred in license/race entry/clothing purchases in the next 6 months (in addition to broken/replacement parts).

For running it's only the initial cost of my iPod, shoes a few times a year, and the occasional purchase of Dri-Fit t-shirts, shorts and socks. Pretty cheap overall.

If you want to spend <10% on your hobby, I strongly recommend you stay away from cycling.

SF is my biggest hobby; both for wasting time and wasting money.

My most expensive hobbies are Scotch and music (going to concerts and the opera) -- I'd say I spend about 0.5-1% of my take-home on those a year. I guess hiking/birding also costs money, but mostly for transportation and we tend to think of that as part of our travel/vacation budget.

FTFY
I ride a lot, and am on the same steel framed Raleigh I bought new in 1986. Steel framed bicycles are where it's at.
