Don't ask, from what I just read, Metro police just fired their first rubber bullet a half hour ago. I think Police Chief Bill Blair has been pussy footing around.

My solution, bust as many as you can of the anarchists on terrorism charges, make sure they all pop on a watch list.

just got word that the protesters are headed up to bloor street and their intent is to "destroy bloor street". (for those that have never been to toronto, bloor is where all the boutiques are located - i.e. gucci, LV, burb, etc. etc... i'm going to go down and line up to loot the shops as soon as they are smashed in i will post things that don't fit me in B&S at a heavily discounted price. i joke.

True to form for Toronto's police, they didn't want to use any force that would make them look bad in the news so they let them get away with pretty much whatever they wanted. Just like when Tamils blocked University Ave, just like when they blocked the Expressway, just like them they blocked Queen's Park, just like..........

1 Billion on security and they did nothing to stop any of this.

How does vandalism like this not necessitate force? These protestors seem to be doing a good job of fucking up a nice city, meanwhile 12,000 police officers are just..doing nothing?

I don't follow the news a ton but managed to hear on 'As it Happens' that a bill was passed allowing police to search anyone in the g-20 zone without a warrant. How the hell did this sort of thing happen? How did people get axes and hammers and other implements of destruction in?

I can understand the police trying to take a passive approach so as not to incite the crowd, but what the hell were the cops doing?

i was at union station last night and saw like 5 male cops standing and chatting about football with a hot female passer-by

For less than $1 billion in cash, they could have just chartered 2 freakin' cruise ships, anchored them out 100 km away from Halifax then ferried everyone else in.

Surround it with a navy battle group, then voila, done.

Certainly a better alternative compared to what's happening to the city now. I like Toronto, I hate to see the destruction that's going on.
