Interest check: Materna goes "operation paprika"?

actually, it's not the same story than with Master Kiss.

i had a nice chat with Mr. Materna and his successor Mr. Dellantonio and they are interested to present examples of their work in "buying&selling" on styleforum.

the workshop, located in the heart of Vienna, offers three lines:

- stock inventory, minor adjustements possible
- mtm/mto
- full bespoke service.

i will explain the whole procedures in detail, when they are up. prize range is beginning at € 780,-

what's the role of "operation paprika"?

op is a project to support local manfacturers from the austrian-hungarian area. in the future, we will provide a platform called the "shoenavigator", where workshops are presented. during the beta-phase the "b&s" section of styleforum is used for collecting experience and feedback, which is used to optimize the operations.

first appearance of the "Materna's" is scheduled for week no. 26.

Nice addition to the paprika project if it works out. A bit steep for my cheap a$$ but I look forward to reading updates.

Materna has a good reputation, I'm looking forward to see how this new venture develops even though I have to stop/refrain from being so compulsive.
Congratulations and good luck,

Adrian

Congratulations and good luck,

Adrian

thank you, adrian

i'll see them next week. we'll choose 10 - 12 pairs, which will be "presented" via "buying&selling".

so, "we" are open, what people are interested in.

one of my favourites is a single monk with a soft squared toe, cordovan in milk-chocolate. it's between an US 10/10.5.

@NOBD

certainly, i'll watch out for a suede.

@gdl203

it'll work out. Mr. Materna is pleasure to deal with and he really appreciates the possibility to take part in a new distribution system.

The price you estimate is for RTW only, right?

Thanks very much for this information I, too, have met Mr. Materna and purchased bespoke shoes from him. He is a very nice man and his wife, Beatrix, is very nice, as well. He actually built my orthotic corrections right into the shoes! My personal taste is not this 'extreme,' but he has produced some remarkable shoes in sharkskin and other marine materials, in a range of colors. I have a pair of buffalo norwegians, with goyser welt and a vibram sole, that are wonderful to knock about in. Best wishes David K

that's normal for the austro-hungarian school of shoemaking, though i recall reports about bespoke shoes of different pedigree, where the clients still used their orthotics... ...one never knows.

would you mind showing pictures of your shoes? that would be great.

I'll take some photos. Might as well learn how to post them here.
