Clemens should have been traded

Anyone else think that Clemens really should have asked for a trade from the 4th place Astros? I think he should have just gone to Boston in the first place, but now that the 'stros are so far out of the race... And the Astros should have just sent him out, I've been a Bruins fan for a long time, and I cheered when Bourque (who was traded to the Avalanche after 21 years with the B's) finally won a Stanley Cup, the Bruins had enough decency to trade a Boston icon knowing full well that they weren't about to win the Cup. You've got to have respect enough for a veteran player to send him on his way so he can make the most out of the little time he has before retirement.

I sort of agree, but is it certain that it's what he would want? As I recall, one of his reasons for "retiring" in the offseason was a desire to spend more time at home with his son(s?). It's not beyond the realm of possibility, it seems to me, that he suggested he'd rather close out the season pitching at home, in front of his "neighbors", and not spending virtually all of the next few months away from his family.

No he shouldn't have been traded. Maybe if he showed up for the whole season and helped win more games. Even then, what rule says that the Astros had to trade him? They're only 5 games back with two months of baseball. Clemens has a ring and had two separate farewell tours. He wanted to come back and play near home, he got it.
