sorry if this is a rehash of an old topic, but what are some foods that you find overrated?

blackberries- the seeds ruin it for me
salmon- not the tastiest of fish
avocados- i like the texture...the taste, not so much

maybe im crazy, but thats all i can think of for now.

Lobster seems like it may be the most difficult ingredient to prepare ever, because it's almost always like rubber and tastes vaguely bitter.

the only time I've liked it is when its swimming in butter or in a burrito.

I'm very often disappointed by lobster in restaurants.

I've had some damn good lobster, and not all of it was from super expensive places. I will say that the price to substance ratio seems a little off, but the same can be said about many things, such as wines, caviar, etc.

As far as sushi goes, it's flavorful, requires minimal prep (rice + fish + veggies if interested), and fairly cheap if prepared at home. If you're looking at ordering, there are plenty of low-mid range places ($10-17 per roll) that have a lot of flavor and substance for what you're paying.

This thread should probably be titled "foods that I don't particularly enjoy" at which point I would like to add egg plant. I've had it prepared well, but the texture tends to mess with me.

I don't really enjoy lobster all that well. I mean, I get why it's so popular and I get why people pay quite a bit of money for it. But I've had it prepared in many different ways very well and everytime, I just think that there are much better options. Just one of those foodstuffs that doesn't do it for me.
