Why do people pay this much for knock offs? - Page 6

Hmm, standard AF camo isn't particularly poorly made, nor poorly fitted (dress/blues however, fucking hell...)... I have trouble conceiving of what special treatment an 'official' gov-issue fabric would receive that warrants this kind of markup.

Umm if you want camo pants and don't want to look like a total douchebag go to Cabelas. I'm a hunter and outdoors person and one thing I can't stand is that urban camo pattern on non military personal. It's like wearing a security guard outfit and thinking it makes you look tough cause it's kind like wear a police uniform.

examples of real camo patterns

Ummmm ??? Why's everybody so worried about what other people spend their money on?

It's simple really, the camo pants the army wears look shit and are made of strictly durability-concerned material. While the [i]designer[i] camo pants are slim-fit because they are cut to a better pattern which costs money to produce, made of a higher quality (not more durable) fabric which costs money to source, and distributed via online stores and a brand, which costs money to advertise and maintain. Really, the only similarity is the camo pattern. As for why people would want these inauthentic pants, its simple, they end up looking better than the real deal at least as far as the ideals of the fashionable are concerned (slimmer is better, more luxurious fabric is better, etc.).

If one wants slim camo pants then find a proxy for surplus pants from Spain.

Also, if you are referring to camo, hunters also wear camo, not just the military.

They're probably referring to people wearing current patterns as if it violates the stolen valor act. Which it doesn't so long as the person isn't pretending to be what he isn't. Though wearing it for hunting isn't that great of an idea. Apparently animals see a little differently. Which is why hunting patterns are so different looking than military patterns.

To think they're complaining about classic mens staples such as your examples is a stretch.

Happened to run by this thread today and guess what I just got from the ACL shop? You say that you don't give a shit about what people spend their money on, but you feel the need to make a thread about it? Why don't you post some links to some of your own personal style items you purchased recently and we can all comment on if we would buy them or not. We can see what makes us chuckle.

And since I actually own the pants, I will comment that they are really slim cargo pant and that is why I bought them. I really loved the way that McNairy put them together with an oxford and his shoes. Rather give it a shot then throw on some selvedge and a white t-shirt and pretend that I have super style.
