Nah, if you take the 99 up through the Massey Tunnel to Vancouver, you don't see Surrey. Pass through South Surrey/White Rock, though, which may as well be its own city altogether.

Sounds like youre staying right on my block. In a rush, I head to Ladro for coffee on 8th and Pine. Otherwise, just start walking up the hill on Pine and walk into any cafe that strikes your fancy. You can't go wrong. As for veg options, I am clueless (though I've heard people remark positively about In the Bowl Noodle House on Olive Wy.)
